Online calculations available now

NOVAGEAR provides free online calculations for gear geometry, contact stress and fits on the website now.
‘Geometry of helical gears’ is used to calculate the main parameters for a helical gear, including the test dimensions such as the dimension over balls or the base tangent length (span). For external gears, the tooth shape is displayed.

The calculation of ‘contact stress’ is available for point and line contact. It is based on Boresi ‘Advanced Mechanics of Materials’ and returns the pressure, the pressure ellipse as well as the maximal shear stress and the stress distribution below the surface. The dimensions of ‘fits’ can be calculated with tolerances according to ISO 286. All 20 tolerance classes are available.

The calculation programs are made by the company MESYS AG in Zurich. MESYS develops calculation software for mechanical engineering.
