Electromobility

Gear transmissions in hybrid and electric vehicles contribute to the optimization of energy efficiency, cost and weight of the overall drive system.

During the development of new gearbox solutions, we take into account the special characteristics of electric motors, such as high starting torque, high overload capacity or load reversal during recuperation. Here we bring in our long-standing experience in conception, rating and design of high-performance gearboxes, especially for high-speed electric motors.

We develop gearbox solutions for your individual requirements. Features of our gearbox designs for electric vehicles:

  • High efficiency
  • Highest torsional stiffness for accurate drive control
  • Hybrid drive
  • Electric drive
  • Wheel hub drive
  • Generators for range extension

Examples of completed customer projects:

Planetary gear for electric transport vehicle

Compact Car

Referenz-Elektromobilitaet
  • Two-stage planetary gearbox for a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV).
  • The gearbox is combined with a torque vectoring module for the wheel-selective torque control.
  • The electric motor, a permanent-magnet synchronous motor, rotates at 18’600 rpm max. The gearbox increases its torque by factor 16.
  • Motor and gearbox form an integral drive unit, which is installed coaxially in the rear axle.

Formula Student Electric

NOVAGEAR is an official sponsor of the Academic Motorsport Club Zurich (AMZ) and supports the ambitious engineers in gearbox development for innovative electric racing cars.

electric.amzracing.ch

The AMZ was founded in 2006 by students of ETH Zurich and annually develops a prototype for various “Formula Student” competitions in Europe. On June 22, 2016, the AMZ set a new acceleration world record for electric vehicles – from 0 to 100 km / h in 1,515 seconds! The AMZ looks back now on 4 seasons overall win and is currently leading the Formula Student world ranking.

We are happy to support you.
