Maximized Efficiency for 48V WHR

Our newest gearbox development for a 48V WHR prototype comprises a minimum quantity lubrication for the gears. The lube oil is precisely dispensed, dependent on speed and temperature, and directed to the gear flanks in atomized condition. With this adaptive lubrication concept, drag and churning losses are reduced by more than 90 percent, compared to conventional oil-injection lubrication.
The customer, located in Europe, takes profit from the maximized total efficiency of his WHR system at reduced costs.
Effectiveness and reliability of this concept was tested and proved in Jan. and Feb. 2020. Test of a pilot-series is scheduled in June 2020.
The gear set is modular for a turbine speed of max. 120’000 rpm and generator speeds between 60’000 and 20’000 rpm.
